Haman’s Fall

Haman’s Fall

Author Darlene J. Conard

In this tumultuous and rapidly shifting period, we find ourselves navigating waves of unexpected challenges, hidden agendas, and sudden revelations that seem to surface without warning. Yet in the midst of this turbulence, the comforting nearness of the Holy Spirit settles over me like a mantle. It brings not only peace, but a profound sense of urgency—an awakening awareness that something significant is stirring in the unseen realm. It feels as though heaven is leaning close, signaling that a monumental spiritual transformation is approaching, one that will not merely touch individuals but will ripple across nations.

The atmosphere of our time mirrors the dramatic tension found in the Book of Esther. That ancient narrative unfolds in a season of political upheaval, spiritual conflict, and divine orchestration. It is a story where the lives of key individuals, the authority of kings, and the schemes of the wicked collide with God’s hidden yet unstoppable plan. Every detail—every conversation, every sleepless night, every unexpected turn—was woven together to expose evil, elevate the righteous, and preserve God’s people. We are living in a similar hour, where the threads of destiny are being pulled tight, and the purposes of God are coming into sharp focus.

Many prophets and prophetesses have sensed the heaviness that rests upon the spiritual atmosphere. It is not a heaviness of defeat, but the weight that precedes breakthrough—the pressure that comes just before the walls fall, the veil lifts, and justice rolls down like waters. It feels as though we are standing on the threshold of a divine intervention that will reshape not only our personal lives but the broader world around us. The anticipation is almost tangible, like the stillness before a storm or the moment before dawn breaks through the darkness.

For years, I wrestled with the belief that my time had passed. I wondered if I had missed the window to make a meaningful impact or to witness the extraordinary signs, wonders, and miracles I had long prayed for. I questioned whether I had somehow stepped outside the timing of God’s plan. But Scripture reminds us otherwise. Amos 3:7 declares, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (KJV). God does not move in silence—He prepares His people, whispers His intentions, and positions His chosen ones long before the world sees the manifestation.

In the summer of 2012, God sent a messenger to confirm what my heart had doubted. A woman, compelled by the Spirit, walked into the facility where I volunteered. She handed me brochures she had created and looked at me with a conviction that pierced my soul. “Darlene,” she said, “God chose you for such a time as this. You are here to shine God’s light in the middle of town.” Her words were not casual—they were a divine reminder that God wastes nothing, not even the seasons we think are insignificant.

I want to speak that same encouragement over you. Do not question your purpose in this moment. Do not shrink back or silence your voice. God will give you the words to speak, the courage to stand, and the clarity to discern the times. In a world fractured by conflict, division, and the schemes of an invisible enemy, God is searching for willing hearts—Esthers, Mordecais, intercessors, watchmen—who will rise and make a bold appeal before heaven.

Just as Haman’s wicked plot unraveled at the very moment he believed he had secured victory, so too is the enemy’s agenda collapsing under the weight of God’s justice. Haman’s end is not merely a historical event—it is a prophetic pattern. Evil exposes itself. Pride builds its own gallows. And God, in His perfect timing, turns the schemes of darkness back upon the heads of those who devised them.

Haman’s end is coming. The noose of his own making is tightening. The decree of destruction is being reversed. And the people of God are stepping into a season of divine protection, vindication, and elevation.

Pray with fervency. Stand with unwavering faith. Anchor your heart in the truth that God is in complete control. He is bringing peace to troubled minds, strength to weary hearts, and a renewed trust that His justice will prevail.

Feel free to forward it to anyone you wish. My mission is to encourage everyone to follow our Lord Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. ©Darlene J. Taking Back Territory

Taking Back Territory

Author Darlene J. Conard

In the New Testament, the concept of territory undergoes a significant transformation, moving from a physical understanding of geography to a deeper realm of spiritual authority. Jesus grants His followers divine authority—not over tangible land, but over the pervasive darkness that seeks to envelop the world.

Luke 10:19 — Here, Jesus declares, “I give you authority… over all the power of the enemy,” granting believers both the power and responsibility to confront and dispel evil.

Ephesians 6:12 — This passage reminds us that our true battle lies not against flesh and blood, but against the unseen forces of darkness in the spiritual realm.

2 Corinthians 10:4–5 — We are called to dismantle strongholds and to take every thought captive, demonstrating that our struggle is against ideologies and influences that oppose the truths of God.

In this spiritual territory, we envision:

– Breaking the persistent patterns of darkness that imprison minds and spirits.

– Reclaiming the hearts and souls of individuals, families, and entire communities who have fallen prey to despair.

– Advancing the Kingdom of God through unwavering truth, fervent prayer, and obedient living.

This idea of territory extends beyond physical space; it represents the growth of God’s reign within individuals’ hearts, within homes, and throughout the very environments we inhabit. Wherever the radiant light of Christ pierces through the shadows, territory is reclaimed.

3. Territory as Expansion of Calling and Influence**

Scripture often employs the powerful imagery of enlargement to depict the seasons when God expands a person’s divine assignment and calling, enhancing their capacity to influence.

Isaiah 54:2–3 — “Enlarge the place of your tent… you will spread out to the right and to the left,” signaling a time of growth and preparation for new blessings.

1 Chronicles 4:10 — In a fervent prayer, Jabez asks, “Enlarge my territory,” and God listens, illustrating the potency of faithful requests.

Psalm 18:19 — “He brought me out into a spacious place,” marking a transition into broader opportunities and divine favor.

This territory represents:

– An increased capacity to serve and influence.

– New opportunities that present themselves as divine gifts.

– Greater leadership responsibilities that align with God’s purposes.

– The potential for significant spiritual impact that resonates in and beyond our immediate circles.

God meticulously expands territory when He finds an individual ready to steward more significant responsibilities. This enlargement is intentional and typically associated with growth. He expands the tent only after He has strengthened its stakes.

4. Territory Gained Through Battle and Obedience

The narrative in the book of Joshua reveals a different aspect of territory—one that is strongly asserted through faith-driven obedience.

Joshua 1:3 — God promises, “Every place the sole of your foot treads, I have given you,” establishing a claim on the land through decisive action.

Joshua 1:6–9 — The keys to this inheritance lie in courage, meditation on God’s Word, and unwavering obedience to His commands.

Joshua 6  — The walls of Jericho tumble down not through brute force but through the power of worship and complete obedience.

The biblical pattern for claiming territory holds a consistent rhythm:

– God speaks and imparts direction.

– The people respond with obedience and faith.

– The enemy retaliates and resists.

– God grants victory in the face of adversity.

– The people joyfully take possession of their inheritance.

Territory is not acquired in a single grand sweep but is claimed step by step. Each act of obedience leaves a footprint, marking the path of our inheritance.

5. Territory as Inner Transformation

Among the most significant territories that God entrusts to us is the inner landscape of our character, holiness, and spiritual maturity.

Romans 12:2 — The renewal of the mind is essential, expanding our spiritual capacity to discern and live out God’s will.

Galatians 5:16–25 — Living according to the Spirit produces fruit that manifests as spiritual territory within us.

Before God increases our external influence or responsibilities, He often cultivates growth within us. This inner territory embodies:

– A mind that is renewed and aligned with divine perspectives.

– Emotions that are healed and balanced, free from past wounds.

– A faith that is strengthened through trials and spiritual disciplines.

– Habits led by the Spirit that reflect the heart of Christ.

– A character that mirrors the love and righteousness of Jesus.

This inner territory is impenetrable, unshakable, and eternally secure. It serves as the bedrock upon which every other form of expansion can flourish.

We need to recognize the divine authority we hold through our faith in Christ. He has assured us that we possess the power to reclaim all that has been taken from us by the enemy, empowering us to restore what rightfully belongs to us.

Staying Hopeful in an Unknown World

Staying Hopeful in an Unknown World

Author Darlene J. Conard

Snow fell in slow, silent grace outside my window as I cradled a warm cup of coffee. The hush felt like a pause in time; each flake seemed to carry a small, holy message—that heaven still speaks in stillness. In that quiet, I leaned inward, not listening with my ears but with the place inside where God’s voice settles like light.

I breathed a simple prayer: Lord, what is on Your heart for me today? The answer did not come as words so much as an invitation—to rest, to listen, and to expect God to meet me in ordinary moments that become holy when He leans in. That invitation is not a retreat from reality; it is a reorientation of the heart toward presence.

Chaos is not the absence of God but often the sign of His work. When life feels disordered, consider that God may be at work dismantling what has held you captive. What looks like confusion can be the sound of the kingdom of darkness being taken apart so light can enter the spaces left behind. A crowd of unbelievers cries—“You are turning the world upside down”—was an admission that a new order had arrived. Jesus’ revolution is not merely disruptive; it is restorative, rearranging what was broken into something whole. Acts 17:6

Trials are not always punishment or mere misfortune; sometimes they are the byproduct of fervent prayer and worship that stirs spiritual opposition. When we press into God with persistent prayer and authentic worship, we provoke a response in the unseen realm. That response can look like resistance, testing, or upheaval in our circumstances. Yet these trials can also be refining fires—meant to purify faith, deepen dependence, and reveal God’s power in ways comfort never could.

When the world feels uncertain, remember that stillness can be a doorway to God’s presence and chaos can be the sign of spiritual reordering. Hold fast to the truth that God is not distant in the upheaval; He is the steady hand rearranging what was broken so new life can grow. Let trials refine your faith, let worship steady your heart, and let quiet moments become the soil where hope takes root.

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)   —2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

My Child, I Promise

My Child, I Promise

Author Darlene J. Conard

As I lay motionless in the soft embrace of my bed, a profound stillness surrounded me, and in that quiet moment, the Lord whispered a reminder that resonated within my heart. “Keep this in mind,” He urged, “when the enemy seeks to cast doubt and accuse Me of lying, remember, lying is an abomination in My sight. I am holy, pure, and righteous, and My truth is unwavering.” The weight of His words enveloped me, filling the room with a sense of divine assurance.  (Proverbs 6:16-19)

Have you ever wondered why we often assume that God’s promises are intended for everyone except ourselves? It’s a common struggle we face: feeling that the assurances and blessings we pray for are reserved for others. In reality, many of us wrestle with the same doubts and conflicts, longing for our faith to be strengthened. We are not alone on this journey; the desire for hope and fulfillment in our lives is shared by many.

Romans 11:29 says He will not deny Himself. (Titus 1:2) He is not a man that He should lie or the son of man that changes His mind. Has He said it? (Psalm 62:11-12) God has spoken once; twice I have heard this. Not one word, — NONE, of all of God’s good promises will fail—ALL SHALL COME TO PASS. Every single one of them!

God’s promises are so great and pure and flawless that Psalm 12:6 declares it is as pure as gold refined seven times in the furnace. Think about the temperature of a furnace.

To refine gold, a furnace must reach extraordinary temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius (1,832 degrees Fahrenheit). In pursuit of high-grade gold, temperatures can soar to 1,064 degrees Celsius (1,947.2 degrees Fahrenheit), the very melting point of this precious metal. At this remarkable heat, impurities are cast aside, allowing the gold to transform into a purer form, ready to embark on its journey for further processing or shaping. This high temperature is not just essential; it embodies the power of transformation, unlocking the true potential of gold and ensuring it emerges free from impurities.

That is certainly flawless!

Precious means substance of great value not to be wasted or treated carelessly; it’s elegant and refined as silver.  Psalms 12:6 says, His report is as refined as stated, flawless.

Dearest friend, I want to inspire you to maintain a deep and passionate commitment to your prayers. Let the intensity of your heartfelt supplications intertwine with the blazing heat of the fiery furnace, and prepare to witness the incredible transformations that will unfold!

Let the heat of the fiery furnace and the fervency of your prayer meet in hot pursuit!

When the Spirit Stirs the Deep Waters

When the Spirit Stirs the Deep Waters

Author Darlene J. Conard

There is an unsettling that rises within every believer—a holy restlessness that refuses to be quieted. It’s not anxiety, and it’s not doubt. It’s the gentle rumble of heaven shaking the walls of our inner room.

I’ve felt it myself.

That searching.

That ache for a word that actually lands—a message with enough weight to silence the longing that keeps echoing inside.

What once nourished now feels like crumbs.

What once stirred my spirit now barely brushes the surface.

It’s as if the familiar wells have run dry, and the old manna no longer satisfies.

And then, in the middle of that spiritual hunger, comes the realization:

This is God’s invitation.

His whisper says,

“Come deeper.”

Deeper than the shallow waters where you once stood.

Deeper than the comfortable rhythms that used to sustain you.

It’s His way of drawing us past the shoreline, past the predictable, past the places where we can still touch the ground.

He calls us into the valley—not to bury us, but to teach us how to dig.

To keep striking the earth until hidden wells break open.

To keep searching until the spiritual gold mine reveals itself beneath the dust.

Because the longing is not a sign of lack.

It’s a sign of calling.

A sign that the Spirit is expanding the borders of our hunger so He can expand the borders of our revelation.

The unsettling is not punishment.

It’s preparation.

It’s God saying, “There is more. Come find it.” There is something greater that lays dormant within every one of us that God wants to awaken.

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.”-   Psalm 42;7 KJV

Not On My Watch

Not On My Watch

Author Darlene J. Conard

Sitting quietly in the stillness of my living room, I could almost feel a tangible resolve forming within me—a fierce determination to conquer the grogginess that threatened to take over my day. No longer would I surrender to the torment of sleepless nights, where I tossed and turned, battling restlessness that clung to me like a shadow. This had to be the last time! “God, what words do You have for me today?” I whispered, striving to push aside the pressing reminders of all the tasks that lay ahead.

But confusion swirled around me like a storm. Just yesterday, out of the blue, a phone call from a long-lost friend broke through the silence—a voice I hadn’t heard in over a year, brimming with encouragement. As soon as I finished my prayer, he reached out. I should have felt buoyed by this unexpected connection, reveling in the realization that incredible things were unfolding in my life. God was opening doors, weaving miracles into the lives of those around me. So then, what was weighing me down? I began to sift through the recent events, searching for clarity. It struck me that a splinter isn’t always immediately felt beneath the skin; sometimes, the signs of trouble manifest as redness or infection before the source of pain is uncovered.

My thoughts drifted back to a conversation from last week—a moment that had taken a sharp turn into negativity. That was when the seeds of doubt had been sown.

Just a few careless words that hinted at the superficial standards of beauty—expectations women should somehow conform to—planted themselves in my mind, triggering a flood of negative voices from my past to resurface.

Weeks earlier, I had watched a poignant 3D animated short that struck a chord deep within my spirit. It began with a mother bird, gracefully gliding through the vast expanse, searching tirelessly for nourishment before returning to her unhatched egg. Nearby, a serpent-like creature lay in wait, plotting to ensnare her attention. At the opportune moment, it unleashed a small snake as a distraction, luring her away from her protected nest. She pursued it, driven by instinct, unaware that her precious charge was now vulnerable and exposed. When she realized what had occurred, a heart-wrenching panic surged through her. With fierce determination, she turned back, confronting the creature that threatened her unborn baby. In the fierce clash that ensued, she was bitten and wounded by the creature’s venomous fangs. Yet, just when it seemed her strength was waning, she remembered the precious life she was fighting for. Summoning every ounce of her dwindling energy, she clawed at the creature, relentlessly battling for what was rightfully hers and ultimately vanquishing it.

That short film bore a profound lesson that resonated deeply within me.

Satan will exploit the little things—small distractions—to coax us away from the promises God holds for us. Without even realizing it, we find ourselves pursuing opinions or ideals that stray far from divine truth, ensnared instead by society’s narrow definitions of who we should be, how we should look, and what we should aspire to become. As the Song of Solomon wisely advises: “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” (Song of Solomon 2:15 KJV). It is often these seemingly insignificant things that can inflict great damage.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 KJV)

So I will fight in prayer, clinging tightly to the promises God has bestowed upon me.

When Feelings Falter but God Remains Faithful

When Feelings Falter but God Remains Faithful

Author Darlene J. Conard

There are moments in life when it feels as if we’re waltzing across the clouds—light on our feet, carried by joy, and convinced that everything is unfolding exactly as it should. Those are the days when the sun seems to shine a little brighter, when prayers feel instantly answered, and when our hearts whisper, “Surely God is with me.”

But then come the other seasons. The heavy ones. The ones where it seems as though God has turned His face away and quietly slipped out the back door of our lives.

In those hours, despair tightens its grip around our hope. Dreams that once burned bright now lie still, as if their last breath has already been taken. Faith feels like a bird that has flown off with the wind, leaving us staring at an empty sky.

And yet—even here—the Word interrupts our sorrow with truth:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)

Sight includes feelings. Sight includes the storm. Sight includes the silence. But faith reaches beyond all of that.

Because feelings are not the final truth. They are temporal. They are not the destination. They pass.

A friend and I were talking about this just the other day while she was driving home from work. We were both wrestling with our own shadows, our own questions. And in the middle of that conversation, she reminded me of something simple but unshakeable:

“It says, we walk by faith, not by feelings.

And just like that, the fog shifted. Not because our circumstances changed, but because truth has a way of cutting through the noise.

Scripture echoes this again:

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God…” Psalm 42:5 (KJV)

David wasn’t denying his feelings—he was refusing to let them rule him.

Faith is not the absence of emotion—it’s the decision to keep moving when emotion tries to paralyze us. It’s the quiet courage to believe that God is still working in the dark, still faithful in the silence, still present even when our hearts insist, He’s far away.

Because the truth is this:

“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)

Even when we feel forsaken, we are not. Even when we feel forgotten, we are held. Even when we feel lost, we are seen.

And when life feels confusing—when God’s ways seem hidden or unreachable—we remember:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 55:8–9 (KJV)

His ways are higher. His timing is wiser. His silence is not absence—it is strategy.

The clouds will part. The light will return. And the God who never left will prove, once again, that His ways are higher, deeper, and far beyond what we can see.

Until then, we walk by faith. We trust His heart when we cannot trace His hand. And we rest in the promise that the God who began the good work will finish it.

“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)

Jael: The Unexpected Warrior God Used to Shift a Nation

Jael: The Unexpected Warrior God Used to Shift a Nation

Author Darlene J. Conard

Some of the most powerful moments in Scripture come from the most unexpected people. Jael is one of them—a woman without a title, without a public platform, without an army… yet entrusted with a victory that changed the course of Israel’s history. Her story, found in Judges 4–5, is brief but thunderous. It reminds us that God often works through those who seem hidden, ordinary, or overlooked.

The World Jael Lived In

Israel was under the brutal oppression of Jabin, king of Canaan, and his military commander Sisera, whose iron chariots terrorized the land. Because Israel had turned from God, they suffered under this regime for twenty years. In this dark season, God raised up Deborah, a prophetess and judge, who summoned Barak to lead Israel’s army into battle. But Deborah prophesied something unusual:

“The honor will not be yours… for the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.” (Judges 4:9)

That woman would not be Deborah. It would be Jael.

Who Was Jael?

Jael was the wife of Heber the Kenite, part of a nomadic tribe living in tents. She was not an Israelite. She was not a warrior. She was simply a woman going about her daily life when history knocked—literally—on her door.

Her name means “mountain goat,” a symbol of agility, sure‑footedness, and the ability to navigate dangerous terrain. How fitting for the task ahead.

Wikipedia +1

When the Battle Came to Her Tent

After Israel defeated Sisera’s army, the commander fled on foot. Exhausted and desperate, he sought refuge in Jael’s tent—believing he was safe because her husband had peaceful relations with Jabin.

But Jael discerned the moment. She saw what God was doing. She recognized that the enemy of God’s people had stepped into her home.

She welcomed Sisera with milk, covered him with a blanket, and waited until he fell into a deep sleep. Then, with the tools of her everyday life—a hammer and a tent peg—she struck the blow that fulfilled Deborah’s prophecy and secured Israel’s victory.

Why Jael’s Story Matters Today

Jael’s story is not about brutality—it’s about courage, discernment, and obedience in a moment that demanded decisive action. She teaches us several powerful truths:

1. God Uses the Hidden and the Ordinary

Jael wasn’t a soldier. She wasn’t a prophetess. She wasn’t even part of Israel.

Yet God entrusted her with a national victory.

Your tent—your home, your daily life, your quiet obedience—may be the very place God chooses to move.

2. Courage Often Looks Like Stepping Into a Moment You Didn’t Ask For

Jael didn’t go looking for a battle.

The battle came to her.

And she responded with clarity, not fear.

3. Discernment Is a Weapon

Jael recognized the difference between a guest and an enemy.

Between hospitality and compromise.

Between peace and passivity.

4. God Honors Those Who Act in Alignment With His Purposes

Deborah’s song in Judges 5 praises Jael as “most blessed among women.”

Her obedience echoed through generations.

A Prophetic Reflection for Today

Jael’s story invites us to ask:

• What battles have come to my doorstep?

• What “tent pegs” has God already placed in my hands?

• Where is God calling me to act with courage, clarity, and conviction?

Sometimes the greatest spiritual victories happen not on public stages but in private spaces—inside our homes, our families, our decisions, our prayers. Jael reminds us that God sees the hidden ones and empowers them to shift history.

Closing Thoughts

Jael’s life is a reminder that God’s deliverance can come from unexpected places and unexpected people. Her courage broke the power of an oppressor and fulfilled a divine prophecy. And her story still speaks today:

When God places a moment before you, step into it with courage.

You never know how your obedience might change the course of a generation.

What God says goes

What God says goes

Author Darlene J. Conard

Many churches today shy away from teaching the fullness of divine healing, even though it is woven throughout Scripture as part of our covenant inheritance. And so I often ask myself: Why is it easier for people—even believers—to accept a doctor’s report than to stand on what the Word of God declares?

The answer is sobering. From childhood, we have been conditioned to place unquestioned trust in medical authority. We are taught to believe a diagnosis simply because it comes stamped with a degree, a title, or a white coat. Our culture trains us to exalt human expertise above spiritual truth. But the Kingdom of God operates by a different standard.

Recently, someone expressed fear concerning my health. In that very moment, the Holy Spirit rose inside me like a mighty banner and said with unmistakable authority: “You do not come into alignment with this demonic contract.” That fear was not from God, and I refused to sign my name to anything authored by darkness.

People have said, “Darlene, you’re in denial.” And they’re absolutely right— I am in denial of anything that originates from Satan. I refuse to agree with the enemy’s narrative when God has already spoken a better word over my life.

The Word of God tells me plainly that by His stripes I am healed. The Word tells me that He is working all things together for my good. The Word tells me that He is my Deliverer. The Word tells me that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17

I choose to believe the report of the Lord. I choose to anchor myself in His promises rather than in fear, speculation, or human limitation. Healing is not a fantasy—it is a covenant reality sealed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

This is why we must press in.

Press into prayer.

Press into thanksgiving.

Press into the declarations of faith that shift atmospheres and break chains.

We must decree what King Jesus has already spoken, not what the enemy whispers. Every law of the Kingdom, every promise of God, every healing word, every deliverance decree—all of it has been signed, sealed, and ratified in the blood of the Lamb. And when Heaven has signed it, no earthly report has the authority to override it.

He said to the woman with the issue of blood, “Your faith has made you whole” (Mark 5:34). Jesus also told the blind man in Matthew 9:29, “Be it unto you according to your faith.” Are our thoughts aligned with certainty? Will we thank God every day for our healing, or will we waver in our faith? God is not the problem; rather, it’s our mindset and how we use our words. When we complain instead of spending time praising Him for our healing, we give the devil a foothold. In the Gospel, we see a powerful interaction when Jesus tells the woman suffering from a bleeding condition, “Your faith has made you whole” (Mark 5:34). This moment highlights the profound impact faith can have on our lives. Similarly, in Matthew 9:29, Jesus addresses a blind man, affirming, “Be it unto you according to your faith.” These statements prompt us to reflect on our own beliefs: Are our thoughts and attitudes firmly aligned with a sense of certainty in God’s promises?

Each day presents an opportunity for us to express gratitude for our healing and well-being. We must ask ourselves whether we will actively choose to thank God every day for His blessings, or if we will allow doubt to creep in and lead us astray. It’s essential to recognize that God is not the source of our challenges; instead, the root of our difficulties often lies in our own thinking and the way we communicate.

When we focus on complaining or expressing negativity, we inadvertently open the door for the devil to influence our lives. Instead of indulging in complaints, we should dedicate ourselves to praising God for our healing and the good things in our lives. This shift in focus not only strengthens our faith but also reinforces our trust in God’s unwavering support and healing power. Embracing a positive mindset and using our words wisely can lead us to a more fulfilling and faith-filled life.

No One Can Destroy Iron—But Its Own Rust Can

No One Can Destroy Iron—But Its Own Rust Can

The Battle for the Mind and the Quiet Sabotage Within

Author Darlene J. Conard

There’s a saying:

“No one can destroy iron, but its own rust can. Likewise, no one can destroy a person, but his own mindset can.”

It’s simple, but it cuts deep. Iron is strong, unbreakable in the hands of its enemies—yet it can crumble from the inside if corrosion is allowed to spread. The same is true for us. Most of the battles we lose are not because the enemy is stronger, but because our mindset is unguarded, unrenewed, or unprotected.

Scripture has been warning us about this long before the proverb was ever spoken.

1. The Mind Is the Battlefield

The apostle Paul makes it clear that the real war is internal:

• “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

• “We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:5

Transformation doesn’t begin with circumstances—it begins with thought patterns.

Victory doesn’t start with what happens around us—it starts with what happens within us.

The enemy cannot destroy a person who guards their mind. But a neglected mind, like neglected iron, begins to rust.

2. Rust Begins in Secret

Rust doesn’t appear overnight. It starts small—unseen, silent, subtle.

So do the thoughts that corrode our confidence, identity, and faith.

• A whisper of fear

• A seed of doubt

• A lie about who we are

• A memory that reopens an old wound

• A belief that God won’t come through this time

Scripture warns us:

• “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

Rust forms when iron is exposed to the wrong environment.

Our mindset corrodes when we expose our inner life to the wrong voices, wrong influences, wrong beliefs.

3. God Has Given Us Armor—But We Must Wear It

Paul describes the armor of God in Ephesians 6, and notice where the battle begins:

• “Put on the helmet of salvation.” — Ephesians 6:17

Why a helmet? Because salvation isn’t just about eternity—it’s about identity. It protects the mind from lies that corrode our sense of worth, purpose, and belonging.

The enemy cannot destroy what God has fortified.

But if we leave our mind uncovered, unguarded, unrenewed, rust begins to spread.

4. The Enemy’s Strategy Is Corrosion, Not Confrontation

The devil rarely attacks with force; he attacks with suggestion.

• “Did God really say…?” — Genesis 3:1

He doesn’t need to break you if he can convince you to break yourself.

He doesn’t need to destroy your destiny if he can get you to doubt it.

He doesn’t need to steal your identity if he can get you to question it.

This is why Scripture commands:

• “Do not give the devil a foothold.” — Ephesians 4:27

Rust begins with a foothold.

A foothold becomes a stronghold.

A stronghold becomes a prison.

5. Renewal Is the Cure for Rust

The good news is that rust can be removed.

The mind can be renewed.

The heart can be restored.

The inner life can be strengthened again.

God never leaves us to corrode in silence.

He speaks life, truth, and restoration:

• “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You.” — Isaiah 26:3

• “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 2:5

Renewal is not a one‑time event—it’s a daily cleansing.

A daily choosing.

A daily returning to truth.

6. You Are Stronger Than You Think—When Your Mind Is Anchored in God

Iron is strong.

You are stronger.

But strength is wasted if the mind is unprotected. It’s amazing how much power we give to a lie.

The enemy cannot destroy you.

People cannot destroy you.

Circumstances cannot destroy you.

But your mindset—if left unguarded—can sabotage everything God intends for your life.

So today, choose renewal.

Choose truth.

Choose to guard your inner life with the same seriousness that a warrior guards his armor.  The battle is not won by force—it is won by mindset.
