I collapsed into my recliner, the little sanctuary that has cradled countless hours of studying, relentless prayers, thinking, and writing. With the last scraps of strength mustered from a weary day, I let myself sink into its familiar embrace, grateful to have finally reached the pause between battles. “Okay, God,” I breathed out, I need direction. I want full Holy Ghost clarity.”
The Lord drew me back into a forgotten corner of my own story, a moment I had never fully understood until now. Suddenly I saw it—clear as prophecy. I had slipped into the footsteps of a man who once hid himself in his labor, burying fear beneath the rhythm of work. Gideon.
For the first time, it struck me with unsettling clarity—I wasn’t merely reading his story… I had been walking a faint echo of it. A shadow of Gideon’s trembling obedience lived in me.
“God, if this is You… give me a sign.” And He did. He whispered through Scripture. He painted messages across my dreams. He stirred the air around me with confirmations so precise they felt impossible to dismiss. Yet somehow, my heart kept reaching for one more assurance, one more fleck of proof that Heaven was truly speaking.
Then one day His voice broke through my doubt with a gentle firmness: “Darlene, you are like Gideon. How many signs, how much clearer must My voice become before you believe this is My hand—and not another?” In that moment, the truth settled in my spirit: I wasn’t waiting on God—God had been waiting on me. Waiting for me to grasp something deeper than simply stepping into a calling. He was leading me to untangle the mystery of what it truly means when His Spirit bears witness with mine.
When you’ve been pushed to question your worth, your purpose, and your calling, the very people who wounded you often project their own insecurities onto someone else. That someone is you. There is a trembling in the soul—fear, uncertainty, the quiet wondering of what could unfold. But my friend, there is a revelation I’ve come to cherish. They have never tasted the tangible nearness I’ve encountered in my relentless, fire‑lit pursuit to see my destination through God’s eyes. They speak from shadows; I move toward a horizon lit by His presence. I learned this year exactly what it means for His spirit to bear witness with mine.
My message to you is this: Stand firm, rooted like a tree that refuses to bow to the storm, knowing that when you lift your voice in prayer, God bends His ear toward you. He is not a Father who leaves His children wandering in circles or drifting without direction. He guides, He answers, and He leads with purpose—never aimlessly, never without intention.
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” —Romans 8:31 KJV
