I couldn’t help but laugh inwardly, fully understanding where Dutch Sheets originated. The Lord urged him to read about the lame man at the Gate Beautiful. “Leave me alone; I’ve read that before,” he thought, not wanting the Lord to hear him. I suppose Dutch, at that moment, didn’t realize that God discerns our thoughts. Once again, I found myself relating to that experience. He explained that he read the passage repeatedly until he finally grasped what the Lord wanted to reveal.
Recently, God reminded me of the story of Gideon, who found himself wrestling with doubt about his ability to lead Israel to victory over the formidable Midianites. Despite being chosen for such a significant mission, Gideon could not see that God indeed sought his willingness to step forward and trust in divine strength. This resonates with me deeply, as I often ask the Lord, “Why have you placed me in the roles of an author, an artist, and a leader when I struggle so much with certain challenges?” God has gently assured me, “That I may be glorified.”
It may seem absurd for someone like me—a person wrestling with dyslexia and ADHD—to take on these responsibilities, especially in an age where such difficulties are often undervalued or overlooked. However, I can confidently say that I can navigate these challenges through the power of the Holy Spirit. Reflecting on the life of Moses, who struggled with a speech impediment and felt inadequate yet encountered the presence of God in profound ways, encourages me. Just as Moses pressed on despite his limitations (Exodus 3:11), I find strength in knowing that God can work through my weaknesses to manifest His glory.
“God, I know those stories. I don’t want to reread it.”
“Take the time to read those words once more, letting their meaning sink deep into your very being until they transform from mere obstacles into stepping stones, void of any power that darkness may wield against you.” I am genuinely thankful for the moments when we hear God’s whisper within our spirits. He has assured us of His unwavering commitment to direct and illuminate our paths with all-encompassing truth.
The Lord may be speaking to you about something as well. Understand that it’s our Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally.
God uses the impossible things and weaknesses of man to reveal His glory.
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;” 1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV.
Feel free to forward it to anyone you wish. My mission is to encourage everyone to follow our Lord Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. ©Darlene J.
