“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.”  Romans 10:2-3 KJV

When Nineveh repented, Jonah threw a temper tantrum. He tried running from God, getting himself into a huge mess! “They are wicked!” he complained to God. His answer, with an attitude, says it all. Jonah thought he knew more than God. Something isn’t right if a Christian gets angry over a great revival! There is no compassion.

Let us not forget that we were once standing in judgment until we took that step towards repentance. Jesus said, and still His word stands,” I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:12 NIV). Since the angels are rejoicing, why shouldn’t we join them?

Throughout my life, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experiences. As a Christian, one of the most valuable lessons I learned was from observing the conduct of my grandmother and other respected elders who were deeply devoted to their faith. Their exemplary behavior served as a profound source of inspiration for me.

I’ve witnessed judgmental viewpoints over clothing, ballgames, and the “Do not hang around others that don’t believe the same way” attitude.” I started to become something that made me uncomfortable. God dealt with me through dreams and the scriptures.

It’s crucial to maintain our integrity, as our actions can undermine our witness. I don’t want anyone, especially those who are struggling with faith, to think, “If this is what living for God is like, then I don’t want any part of it!” I understand that feeling; I’ve been there myself. Legalism has no place in the church.

I read a quote that says, “The only one who could throw a stone didn’t.”

Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites for a reason.

The term “hypocrite” originated in ancient Greek theater, where it was used to describe actors. The word is derived from two Greek words, and when translated, it means “an interpreter from underneath.” This indicates a deeper meaning of portraying a character and interpreting their role from within. I’ve encountered Christians who refuse to believe they are wrong. They can’t take correction, but they can give it.  Headstrong, they continue on their way.

On numerous occasions, I have encountered individuals in leadership roles who have asserted that God had revealed false things. It was their assumption.

One summer, the Lord blessed me by allowing me to attend a leadership conference. The night we were headed home, God told me I needed to cut this person off. It was the hardest thing! I didn’t have to question that it was from God. He said, “Darlene, you need to obey. Not everything I asked you to do is going to be easy.” That night, I dreamt that when I cut this person off, they were kicking, screaming, and crying because they weren’t getting their way. I wrote the letter as God told me to, made a copy, and sent it. I got a letter of apology in the mail, but then this person changed their mind, saying God told them to cut me off completely. It was mean and nasty. This individual talked more than they listened. Because of this, the conversation was completely twisted! It was nothing like I said! This person has a problem believing they know everything and cannot be taught anything new! Please be cautious! I saw the warning signs but got hurt because of my carelessness in not harming others. Listen to God when He warns you of this type of person!

The Bible teaches us to evaluate people’s actions according to His word. I have encountered leaders who claimed that God had revealed things about me that were not true, but they refused to accept the reality.

One of my intercessors taught me to be aware of anger and judgment by referring to it as righteous anger or judgment. Is it anger Jesus expressed in the temple where doves, oxen, and sheep were being sold in the house of God? (Matthew 21:12-17Mark 11:15-19Luke 19:45-48) Are you judging situations according to the word of God? If God is saying something is not right, then it’s not.

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. (John 4:24) Appearance is not physical alone. We can’t believe everything we see, hear, and think. Before my conversion, I appeared happy on the outside, but on the inside, my soul screamed for help. God revealed the truth to my grandmother through visions and dreams. Nothing could be hidden from her, but she prayed. She could have easily said, “I don’t see a change. No, she didn’t rely on the physical things!

Sometimes, people become so enthusiastic about their thoughts and ideas that they mistake them for God’s voice. They make hasty judgments and refuse to reconsider them. I have witnessed them cutting off people simply because their ideas did not coincide. God is kind and merciful, and He does not condemn anyone.

“Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?” Ecclesiastes 7:16 KJV

At first, I didn’t understand Romans 10:2-3, “For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

The word zeal in this verse means, in the Greek translation, zḗlos (an onomatopoeic term that mimics the sound of water bubbling over from the heat and perhaps derived from zéō, “to boil) – properly, burning emotion (inner feeling boiling over, “boiling from heat,” (figuratively) something very fervent (“red-hot”) as with Spirit-fueled zeal to serve the Lord. We can get ahead of the Holy Ghost. It is possible to be overly confident! Not only that, but the power of God is unlike anything this world has to offer! We are flesh. At the beginning of my baby steps, I had to enquire the Lord about this. He replied, “Darlene, it’s easy to get out of My Spirit and into the flesh.” I understood! We must think before we act or speak and, most of all, use discernment. Jesus says, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29 KJV)

The ES Version of Galatians 5:25 is, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” Keep in synchrony with His counsel. If we don’t, we will establish self-righteousness.   Isaiah 64:6, But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (KJV)

We also must be careful to fear self-righteousness; then, we don’t do anything!

The Pharisees believed they were privileged since Abraham was their father. Abraham acknowledged God’s righteousness. (Matthew 3:9)

Salvation and righteousness are through one name only: Jesus Christ.

We Need to Turn Back to God

We Need to Turn Back to God

Author Darlene J. Conard

I am very aware that we are living in challenging times, but I’m also aware that the church needs to find its correct posture.

Posture refers to the position or alignment of the body, which can be either a natural characteristic or deliberately adopted for specific reasons or activities. It encompasses the state or condition of the body at any given moment, particularly regarding its ability to function effectively in various situations. Additionally, posture can reflect a conscious mental state or an external behavioral attitude, communicating information about a person’s emotional or psychological condition. Furthermore, the act of assuming a particular posture can be influenced by intent, as individuals may change their physical stance to convey specific messages.

If we are not aligned with God, how can we expect to fulfill the unique gifts and purpose that God has entrusted us with?

The church has become entrapped in the weight of its religious traditions, diverse denominations, and entrenched ideologies. This has led to a profound disconnection from its core purpose and essence, leaving it spiritually stagnant and unable to respond to the actual needs of the lost. When a severe injury occurs to the spinal cord, the communication pathway between the brain and the body is severed, resulting in a complete loss of motor function. This disconnection leaves the body immobile, unable to respond to the signals that the brain sends. Similarly, as time has passed, the church has drifted away from its foundational connection to Jesus, losing the essence of its teachings and the vibrancy of its spiritual life.

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, “Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Matthew 15:1-9 KJV

By surrendering our self-will and letting go of personal desires, we open ourselves to greater strength, newfound clarity, and illuminating revelations. This process allows us to elevate our perspective and embrace what God wants to do on earth.

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” Jeremiah 6:16 KJV

To truly become the church of the living God, we must humble ourselves in prayer, seek God, and adhere to His word.

It’s Time for the Church to Be the Church

It’s Time for the Church to Be the Church

Author Darlene J. Conard

A profound gratitude washed over me as I considered the countless moments that could have unfolded differently. Where might my journey have taken me if someone hadn’t been willing to stand in the gap, fervently praying for my well-being?

In a heartfelt discussion with my friend, we probed into the profound significance of radiating God’s light in our lives. I found myself distancing from embracing God’s teachings as a sinner due to the approach of certain Christians. Their calamitous warnings of eternal damnation did nothing to draw me closer to God; instead, I felt pushed away by their lack of compassion and nurturing. Their self-righteous tone seemed to proclaim, “Look at my righteousness!”

David Phelps wrote a song called Live Like a King. The lyrics go like this,

My thirst for the things of this earth
Isn’t quenched by diamonds or pearls
One Man lived the life that I want.
He’s the One they said ruled the world.

Though He only wore a crown of thorns
And He never owned a thing.

I want to live like a King.
I want to live like a King.
And my decree it will ring.
“Love will rule everything.”
I want to live like a King.

This King did the strangest of things.
He befriended the sick and the poor.
There was no one too wrong, too right, too black, too white for Him to Love
He built no walls, left no unopened doors.
Well, now I could croon a million other tunes.
There is just one I want to sing.

I want to be stronger; I want to be wiser.
I just want to make every move be the one He’d want to see from me.
There’s just such power, such healing power.
In every word that He said, in every deed that He did

This world has heard enough preaching; now, we need a demonstration of the Holy Ghost’s power! Reflectors were designed to reflect subjects in the dark. People who work in the mines are required to wear reflective clothing, and people walking in the dark should wear bright clothing to be spotted. We are living in a dark world. If we aren’t reflecting God’s glory, how will they see? They need something tangible, not religious and ceremonial.

My prayer is to be as much like Jesus as possible. For the Holy Ghost to cleanse me of all unrighteousness so that I can be a reflector of God’s glory. It’s time for us to be the church and stop being ceremonial. The building is not the church; we are the church.

Spiritual Conflict

Spiritual Conflict

Author Darlene J. Conard

A friend and I engaged in a deep conversation about the internal struggles we face within our minds. She expressed how it often feels like two opposing voices wrestling for control. One voice, drenched in despair, whispers, “Give up. “What’s the point?” while the other, filled with resolve, urges, “Don’t back down. You’ve come too far to quit.”

To illustrate this conflict, she referenced a familiar scene from cartoons, where an angel perches on one shoulder, radiating encouragement and hope. In contrast, a devil lurks on the opposite shoulder, sowing seeds of doubt and temptation. That metaphor resonated with me, highlighting a vivid struggle that many experience. It beautifully echoes the sentiment in Romans 7:23, which states, “I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” The passage captures the essence of this internal battle, a poignant reminder of our ongoing fight between our better instincts and darker impulses.

Paul openly acknowledged his internal struggle, a testament to his humanity. We often perceive the figures in the Bible as paragons of virtue, seemingly possessing an unwavering composure and unshakeable faith. However, they faced the same vulnerabilities and challenges we encounter, grappling with doubts and failures just like us.

I’ve often remarked that engaging in spiritual warfare can be incredibly draining! It’s far from an enjoyable experience. Nonetheless, God has graciously provided us with His Word, a powerful tool we can use to counteract the evil accusations and temptations that come our way. I won’t kid you—just because you confront the enemy once doesn’t mean his voice will suddenly vanish; it’s an ongoing battle that requires perseverance and strength.

Haman’s End

Haman’s End

Author Darlene J. Conard

In this tumultuous period, we navigate through unexpected challenges and revelations daily. The comforting presence of the Holy Spirit fills me with a profound sense of urgency and an awakening awareness, signaling that a significant spiritual transformation is looming just ahead. The unfolding events mirror the compelling narrative in the Book of Esther. This powerful story unfolds during a time of great intensity, interweaving the lives of key individuals, significant locations, and pivotal events that shape the course of destiny.

Numerous prophets and prophetesses are profoundly sensitive to the weightiness that fills the atmosphere during this particular season. It feels as though we are perched on the edge of a monumental spiritual occurrence that promises to reshape our personal lives and the broader world around us. The anticipation hangs in the air, creating a palpable tension that signals impending change and transformation.

As years passed, I felt it was too late to make a meaningful impact. I began to think I had missed the opportunity to witness or participate in God’s extraordinary signs, wonders, and miracles.

Amos 3:7 says, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets”( KJV)

In the summer of 2012, a lady compelled by God visited the facility where I volunteered. She handed me brochures she had made for us and told me, “Darlene, God chose you for such a time as this. You are here to shine God’s light in the middle of town.” This message moved me deeply.

I want to encourage you not to doubt your purpose at this moment. Remember that your voice is significant because God will give you the words to speak. It’s crucial to pray fervently in the face of the current conflicts and division caused by an invisible enemy, and God requires willing individuals to make a powerful appeal.

Haman’s evil demise is coming to an end. Pray, stand firm, and know that God is in control, bringing peace and trust to your hearts.

Warrior In Training

Warrior In Training

Author Darlene Conard

There was a time when I loathed the very thought of training. The monotony of repeating lessons felt like an endless cycle, each session blending into the next with a frustrating predictability. I could feel the weight of impatience in the air as my instructor stood before us, a calm but determined presence urging me onward. “Get it right,” they would insist, their voice steady, yet carrying an unspoken challenge.

In recollection, I now see that each moment of struggle was a gateway to a deeper understanding, expanding the horizons of my spiritual awareness. Every obstacle I faced seemed to whisper its demand: “Try me! I’m here to test your limits and reveal the true essence of your character!” These experiences, once burdensome, have now become catalysts for growth and insight.

“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 KJV

When we convince ourselves that falling is out of the question, Paul cautions us with a simple yet profound reminder: “Take heed.” This warns us that we will inevitably face trials to challenge our convictions. These tests will reveal whether we possess the faith and strength to maintain our stance amidst adversity.

Can I be transparent here? I’m the worst when it comes to being a perfectionist! One mistake that’s it! So, I keep a record of what I should and shouldn’t do. “I should have known better! When …when am I going to learn? My list is a mile long in my sight. Fear strangles the purpose of God in our lives. Unlike me, Peter had at least the courage to step out, no questions asked. I’ve come a long way in that area.

Peter did something that the other disciples did not: he stepped out onto the water. In doing so, he shifted his focus from Jesus to the storm (Matthew 14:25-31). Later, when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter cut off the ear of one of the soldiers (John 18:10-11). At one point, Satan entered Peter as he argued with Jesus about His impending death, burial, and resurrection. Jesus mentioned, “Whatever is bound on earth is in heaven. These are the keys.” At that moment, Peter’s words reflect not God’s will but Satan’s scheme. He attempted to thwart God’s plan, but God ultimately canceled Peter’s agenda (Matthew 16:22-24). Jesus warned Peter, “Satan desires to sift you as wheat” (Luke 22:31-32). This sifting is undoubtedly an experience that brings wisdom and knowledge. Embrace it and act with discernment!

The Bible is not discrete concerning Peter’s failures; however, it speaks loud and clear of God’s mightily using him. Jesus didn’t say, “Peter, you failed Me. I’m taking back the keys. I don’t want my church founded with you involved.” No… He said the opposite. (Matthew 16:18) He saw what Peter would become, not what he was at that moment. The one who denied Jesus led the spiritually blind into the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. (Mark 14:66-68) (Acts 2) Jesus promised, “The gates of hell shall not prevail.”

When we perceive ourselves as weak or lost, God recognizes the fierce warrior within us, embodying strength, courage, and resilience that we often fail to see.

My friend’s son, who won the battle over drug addiction, said something to me I’ll not forget. “God puts His strongest warriors at the head of the battle. Darlene, if He brought you to it, He’ll bring you through it.”

Your Promise Is Your Weapon

Your Promise Is Your Weapon

Author Darlene J. Conard

Mary came into alignment for God’s purpose by declaring these words, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” (Luke 1:38 KJV)

Mary, described as highly favored by the angel of the Lord, faced numerous challenges despite her favored status. Rather than leading a life of ease, being highly favored brought her persecution, pain, and a need for sacrifice.

The moment the Holy Ghost enveloped her in a divine embrace, she underwent a profound transformation; it was unmistakable that she had experienced a powerful visitation from God. Similarly, after encountering God’s overwhelming presence atop the mountain, Moses found it necessary to drape a veil over his face to shield those around him from the radiant glow of God’s glory that had saturated his features (Exodus 34:33).

In the depths of Mary’s womb, something more profound than the creation of a new life was taking place. She was told, “Mary, you are carrying a prophecy that the enemy will stop at nothing to obliterate. Evil will emerge from its seat of power. But do not be afraid, for light will inevitably triumph over darkness, swallowing it whole.” It is written, “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. Revelation 12:1-13 KJV (I will do a breakdown of these scriptures in depth)

Her position before the earth’s foundations were laid was to carry the promise that the enemy despised. He devised in every wicked way possible to stop her from delivering our Savior. Yes, earthly kings arose in haste to protect their rein. It wasn’t about flesh and blood; it was against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12) This battle would only be won by standing tall and strong on bended knees.

Beloved, know that Satan harbors contempt for the promises and calling that reside within your spiritual being. However, take courage, for you have the ability to stand up to the enemy with God’s unwavering declaration that His promises will be fulfilled! His word is an omnipotent, steadfast source of strength and reassurance amid spiritual warfare.

If you seek God with all your heart, you will experience abundant growth and prosperity in various aspects of your life. I pray God grants you the strength and guidance to bring spiritual blessings and fulfillment. Embracing your spiritual purpose will be essential in unlocking the path to your prosperity and realizing the complete satisfaction of God’s divine plan for your life.

God Chaser

God Chaser

Author Darlene J. Conard

A person with an unquenchable hunger for God radiates an unwavering strength, becoming a challenging force for good and a significant challenge to the realm of darkness. Their deep longing for spiritual connection and divine purpose empowers them to act boldly, inspiring others and pushing back against negativity and despair. This relentless pursuit ignites a fierce determination that makes them unstoppable in their quest for truth and light.

People have often approached me with comments like, “You need to ease up; you go too far with this Christianity thing. There are other things to talk about besides God. Stop acting so spiritual.” I can only say I’m not acting; I’m living it. My grandmother’s prayers and fasting on my behalf were vital in my liberation from the deep despair that had once imprisoned me. When I was teetering on the verge of suicide, it was His merciful intervention that held me back.

I love Jesus and will continue to talk about Him and strive to be His person. Maybe you are getting the same response. It’s ok; they didn’t understand Jesus; he’s still misunderstood!

Acts 13:22 says … “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.”  David joyfully danced before the Lord, casting aside the trappings of his royal status. With each exuberant step, he moved through the streets of Israel, his heart full of praise and devotion. The air was filled with the sounds of celebration as he freely expressed his gratitude and love for the Lord, inspiring those around him to join in the moment of worship. (2 Samuel 6:14-16)

We are living in an era where the importance of seeking God with unwavering devotion is often overlooked or deemed unnecessary. The societal pressures to prioritize immediate concerns over the profound quest for spiritual connection and understanding are real. But we must remember, our faith is not determined by societal norms, but by our personal relationship with God.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 KJV

For me, Jesus is not just a figure in history or a distant deity. He is my everything, my life, and my passion. Without Him, I am nothing. This personal connection with God is what fuels my unwavering devotion and inspires me to share my experiences with you.

Let’s not forget, we are called to seek God with all our hearts, minds, and strength. This unwavering devotion is not just a suggestion, it’s a commitment that we should all strive to uphold.

Magic erasers are truly remarkable tools! With their unique composition, they effortlessly remove a wide array of markings and stains from various surfaces, leaving them looking pristine. When I use one on a tired, dingy white surface, it’s almost like watching a transformation—what once appeared dull and worn suddenly shines with a freshness that feels as if it were brand new.

As I folded laundry in my dimly lit room, my mind wandered to the incredible capabilities of these little sponges. I found myself daydreaming about a magical eraser for the mind, one that could effortlessly wipe away all the unpleasant memories that cling to us like stubborn stains. In a moment of vulnerability, I voiced my wish aloud, almost feeling the weight of my thoughts lift as I said, “I wish I could just wipe everything away, every single thing.”

As I continued with my household tasks, the rhythm of my chores became a backdrop for a deeper conversation. I shared my internal struggles with God, seeking solace in His presence. I reminded myself that God can forget our mistakes when we lay them at His feet, and I felt a comforting warmth enveloping my heart. It brought me peace to know that, despite my burdens, there is hope in surrendering them to Him.

In a quiet moment of reflection, I felt a gentle nudge from God, reminding me of the ever-present adversary that seeks to sow discord and devastation among His people. The thought struck me: nothing would delight Satan more than witnessing a child of God stumble, falter, and remain downcast. I recalled Revelation 12:10, which speaks of the relentless accuser—an embodiment of darkness—who stands before God, day and night, hurling accusations against the brethren. What does he accuse them of? Everything imaginable could inflict wounds, instigate self-loathing, incite hatred toward others, or instigate doubts about God’s goodness.

This realization underscored the profound importance of remaining vigilant in prayer and immersing ourselves in His sacred word. It’s much like taking a piece of bread—breaking it apart thoughtfully and savoring each morsel. Perhaps one of the many purposes of our memories is to equip us with insights drawn from our past mistakes, enabling us to resist future trials and wield the power of Scripture effectively.

I’ve come to understand that God is meticulous; He never wastes a moment. One night, during a vivid dream, I sensed God speaking to me, saying, “Darlene, I was with you in those moments—here, here, and here.” It was a profound reminder that I was never truly alone, nor would I ever face anything without His presence. Yes, recollection can be painful; some memories are marked by profound anguish and heartache. It isn’t easy to envision how one can persevere through another day or find solace in a peaceful night’s sleep amidst the shadows of the past.

“God is our refuge and strength, a present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1 KJV

… “lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20 KJV

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV) Paul wrote this in his letter to Corinth because it’s true. God will not allow satan to push us to the edge.

The accusations that constantly come forth will not come to pass. We must hold on, keep praying, and keep believing the Lord will do what He promised. Romans 4:25 and 5:1 say that through Christ, we are justified, and through Him, we are defended by the shedding of His blood.

Keep that armor on!  “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 KJV

God Turns Chaos into Order

God Turns Chaos into Order

Author Darlene J Conard

I was filled with reluctance and determination as I stood amidst the clutter in my utility room. “I know I need to, but I don’t want to,” I mutter. At this moment, I earnestly declare, “The flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing!” As I sifted through my belongings, I realized that what I might dismiss as mere clutter could be a hidden treasure for someone else. When I finish dragging everything out, my foyer transforms into what can only be described as a hoarder’s paradise—an overwhelming array of items sprawled in chaotic disarray. Dust dances through the air, settling thickly on surfaces, making my apartment appear to have experienced a minor explosion of debris.

Navigating through this maze of forgotten possessions is no small feat; each step down the hall feels like an expedition, with me digging through the emotional and physical clutter to create a tenuous path from room to room. I can’t help but wonder how long it will truly take to restore order to this space, to lovingly sort through piles of clothes, stacks of books, and countless odds and ends that have accumulated over time. The task ahead feels monumental, yet a small part of me is excited at discovering lost gems hidden within this jumble.

Chaos creates an overwhelming atmosphere.  So much truth is in that!

What if I told you that chaos is a tool for God? “No, He isn’t the author of confusion. (1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV) He works in it.

In the book of Esther, Haman’s lust for power drove him to deceive the king. All it took was the right strategy since he was the king’s righthand man, no problem! “Here is the plan. I’ll convince King Ahasuerus that the Jews are enemies.” Mordecai knew Esther was in the right place at the right time. He depended on his niece, whom he raised as his own, to intercede on their behalf.  (Read the book of Esther)

Arrogance led Haman straight into the very snare he built for Mordecai. Chaos ceased in God’s time. Israel was spared.

Jesus, upon entering Bethsaida, encountered a blind man in need of a miracle. “Touch him, my Lord,” the people urged. (Mark 8:22-20) First, He touched the man’s eyes with His spit and asked, “What do you see?” The blind man looked up and replied, “I see men as trees, walking.” At first, he didn’t truly see. Have you ever had your eyes examined? Sometimes drops are put in your eyes to dilate them. It can be overwhelming to want to see clearly. The second time, Jesus placed His hands upon the man’s eyes. His vision was restored as if he had always been able to see. Chaos only lasted for a moment; then, by the touch of the Master’s hands, the order was restored.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”   Romans 8:28 KJV

“God has the power to restore order to chaotic things. Before doing so, everything must be disorganized and misplaced. But there’s no need to fret, as He has already paved the way for this restoration. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” (Psalms 119:105 KJV)

Our natural sight betrays us. Focus on what God said He would do.  “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go. I will guide thee with mine eye.” (Psalm 32:8 KJV) His eye is our compass. It says eye. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”  Single vision is a term that throws me in a loop when ordering glasses online. It taught me something valuable, though. The two lenses are created for optical correction for a single distance, meaning only one. Focus is one way, not two, three, or four. Jesus says, “But if thine eye is evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness; how great is that darkness!”  Proverbs says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”  To have an open vision, our circumstances mustn’t blind us, and we believe in a physical manifestation of God’s order.

I have a remarkable uncle who is visually impaired yet incredibly able to count money with precision. Despite his blindness, he enjoys “watching” TV and experiencing “sightseeing” by vividly imagining them. When it comes to counting change, he relies on his acute memory for the unique characteristics of coins, such as their size, texture, and engravings, running his fingers over them to discern their value. His resilience and wisdom have been invaluable, teaching me the profound lesson of navigating life with unwavering faith rather than relying solely on what meets the eye.

The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.
