“I can’t win for losing!” I’ve exclaimed this phrase countless times, feeling its weight each time it escapes my lips. There’s a revelation buried within those words, stemming from numerous frustrating encounters. It’s a reflection of my struggles to negotiate with them, as if every attempt I made was met with indifference. No matter how hard I tried, my efforts seemed to fall short, leaving me with the weighty realization that nothing I did could earn their approval or satisfaction.
The verse “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways,” found in James 1:8 of the New Testament (KJV), offers a profound spiritual and logical insight. It’s often understood to mean that when a person is torn between conflicting beliefs or lacks steadfast faith and clear direction, they become vulnerable to inner conflict and unreliable behavior across all areas of life. A double-minded person is bounced from one wave to another. They have no idea of what they truly believe. Since they don’t have stability, they make everyone else miserable. You will destroy yourself trying to please them, because there is no rationalizing with them.
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” — Ephesians 4:14, KJV
So, the only way to win and avoid losing is not to get on their ship. We must stand firm, fixing our sight toward clarity and purpose, charting our course through calm waters. To truly win and avoid the shackles of confusion, we must remain steadfast in our belief, unchained from the whims of the double-minded.
My advice to you from experience is to liberate yourselves from double-mindedness, for these are storms unending.
Philippines 2:5 KJV, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
Stay on the winning side and stand firm in Jesus.
Feel free to forward it to anyone you wish. My mission is to encourage everyone to follow our Lord Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. ©Darlene J.
