Father of Lights

Father of Lights

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James1:17 KJV

Last night, during my study, the enigmatic title “Father of lights” finally unraveled its mystery to me. I was perplexed as to why the word “lights” was plural and not capitalized, as there was no mention of any other light. However, the Word never disappoints those who seek answers. It was then that I recalled Jesus’ words: “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light” (John 12:36 KJV). And that’s when the realization hit me like a bolt of lightning. We are His lights; hence, He is the Father of lights.

As children of light born through Christ, we are entitled to every good and perfect gift. God is not unsettled, and He won’t deny us any promises. He promises to make a way, and He will pave the way. He even challenges us by asking, “Is anything too hard for me?”

Of course not! He parted the Red Sea, wrapped Himself in flesh, was born of a virgin, healed the lame, and performed countless other miracles. I often imagine God rolling up His sleeves, saying, “Give me something else to take care of. I’m ready, and I’m unchallenged.”

He has countless great treasures stored for us in the future, and our faith in Him will lead us to those treasures.

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV
