“And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob hath taken away all that are father’s: and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory, “Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban and behold it was not toward him before. (Genesis 31:1-2)

Laban overheard his sons’ conversation which was filled with discord.  “Jacob is stealing from our father and all honor.” Proverbs 6:14 says, “Forwardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually, he soweth discord.” That wasn’t the truth. The truth was God’s blessing followed Jacob.

Laban in his heart believed it to be truth, making him suspicious of Jacob. God revealed the spirit of discord to Jacob. He refused to allow him and his family involvement in the situation. Jacob packed his belongings and left with his family.

Have you ever experienced someone being jealous of God’s blessing in your life? One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn was not everyone is going to rejoice over the way God is blessing my life.

 Seek God and His favor will be evident in all that you do!
