Outshine Darkness

Outshine Darkness

Author Darlene J. Conard

“The devil can’t be in multiple places at once.” I’ve heard this message brought out through several ministers. He’s not omnipresent like God. Of course, it challenged my understanding. “Why and how then is there so much chaos on the earth? Show me Lord that I may have understanding.” He replied, “If Satan can find one person to use as a field to plant seeds called lies, it will come forth as a thicket of thorns. All he must do is turn humanity against each other through carnality.”

Jesus taught using a parable, a Sower sowing good seed. “Sir, did you not plant good seed in the fields?” Indeed, he did. “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, an enemy hath done thisMatthew 13:25-28 KJV

It’s amazing how powerful thoughts are, positive or negative. If there is a crack, just one single crack, he’s in. I pray and strive to be careful not to give the devil a chance to plant lies in my mind. I don’t want hatred, bitterness, any of those things to rule my life. “The devil made me do it,” is not true. He can influence with lies that sound like truth. If we entertain the lies, we’ve stepped right into his snare willingly.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (1 Peter 5:8 KJV) May I get a drink of water? May I take your coat? May I have your keys? May means getting possible permission.

In the book of John chapter 8, Jesus confronted the Pharisees as they tried justifying themselves. “Abraham is our father! We aren’t in bondage!”

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”  (John 8:44 KJV)

Oh, how we must be watchful! We are the ones to make a difference in this world.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Let that light of God in you outshine darkness!  (Matthew 5:14-16 KJV)

“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
